Alison Brie was born in Pasadena, California, to a Jewish mother and a Catholic father. Has begun to show interest in the theater in early childhood. She made her stage debut at the Jewish Center in Southern California at age 5, playing Toto the dog in the production of The Wizard of Oz. She graduated from the California Institute of the Arts with a degree in dramatic arts, studied for a while at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (Glasgow) and took acting lessons in Hollywood.
